Sweet 16 Predictions

With the Sweet 16 starting tomorrow I’m going to give my picks for this weekend because Michigan State’s season is obviously over. I also just want to say the way these games are scheduled is terrible.

Thursday’s games:

6 Clemson/2 Arizona: I am taking Arizona to advance to the Elite 8. I think the depth of Arizona will be the difference with guys like Jaden Bradley and KJ Lewis on their bench. I also have Arizona winning it all in my bracket so I have to pick them.

5 SDSU/ 1 UConn: Uconn. I don’t think I need to explain myself here.

4 Alabama/ 1 UNC: I think this might be the highest scoring game of the tournament. I have been impressed with Bama’s defense recently and I am going to go with them. Also, Harrison Ingram on UNC was running his mouth after beating the Spartans last week so I will be rooting against them.

3 Illinois/ 2 Iowa State: I think this will be the best game of the night. It is the #1 offense vs the #1 defense in the country. I am going to take Iowa State in this one. Iowa State might not be the most talented team but they play as a team maybe better than anyone else in the country. It’ll be a tough task to stop Terrance Shannon Jr. of the Fighting Illini but if anyone can Iowa State can.

Fridays games:

11 NC State/ 2 Marquette: I think this is where NC State’s magical run comes to an end. Marquette is very motivated right now after their disappointing tournament last year where they actually lost to Michigan State as a 2 seed.

5 Gonzaga/ 1 Purdue: People are saying this is going to be a great game, I honestly disagree. I think that Purdue will dominate this game because Gonzaga’s defense is not good.

4 Duke/ 1 Houston: I have been saying all tournament that if these 2 teams got to the Sweet 16 Duke would win.I have to stick with my word even though Houston is so physical and Duke is not. Game is also in Dallas but Duke fans travel well too.

3 Creighton/ 2 Tennessee: I have been on the Tennessee train for awhile now. I have also been on the Creighton is fraudulent train. I think Tennessee is way too physical for a team like Creighton, and they dominate this game.

I am super excited for all of these matchups. Last year we had a lot more upsets, but this year we get to watch a lot of the top teams at the end of the season.
